Upixa history
- The vision for the upixa model was formed in 1997, and it has been under development since 2001.
- We have spent eight years planning, analysing, researching, coding and testing our engine. We have evaluated and made purchases from all the major existing online picture resources. We believe that what we have developed is a massive step forward for image buyers and contributors.
- We wrote upixa's engine from scratch, which adds to its security and efficiency as it does not depend on any proprietary resources which could cause a security risk. And, there is zero waste in the engine as it is totally dedicated to the purpose for which it was designed. For contributors, this means better security for your images and the intellectual property they represent. For buyers, this approach translates to increased reliability and a thoroughly focussed product dedicated to their needs.
- In its current form the engine is able to contend with up to 100 million images. When we achieve this target we will become the world's largest image library. Currently our servers are equipped to handle up to 20 million images without requiring significant additional resources. Because of its built-in ability to be scaled almost to infinity, Upixa could, given adequate storage capability, contend with up to 18,000 trillion images (an absurd figure). Given the global demand for imagery and constantly changing image needs we think our goal of 100 million images in 5 years is not unreasonable: with your help our vision shall be achieved before 2010.
